Collector

In 2015, we began the “Collector” project. Collector is a media artist in travel, equipped for conditionally autonomous existence, which moves on from city to city. His aim is to archive the atmosphere’s states in those places where he passes. The collector is equipped with a device which consists of a DIY- mini chromatographer and an electromechanical barrel-organ. It is a musical analytical instrument. The rotation of the barrel-organ handle produces energy which supplies the system. As a result of the chromatography process, the device gets a unique pattern which is registered in the computer memory and is played with the help of the barrel-organ.

 The device can store and play the collected patterns. The sound is born within the instrument itself and is not created from the pre-given samples. The collector can save in his barrel-organ all the patterns and their soundings and play them in other places.
